Structure of the IELTS Exam

The IELTS exam is divided into four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.

  1. Listening (30 minutes):
  • Format: Four recorded monologues and conversations.
  • Objective: Assessing your ability to understand main ideas and specific details, as well as your ability to follow the development of ideas.
  1. Reading (60 minutes):
  • Format: Three reading passages with increasing difficulty.

    Format: Two tasks – Task 1 and Task 2.

  • Objective: Assessing your ability to present and organize ideas coherently and use accurate and varied vocabulary and grammar.
  1. Speaking (11-14 minutes):
  • Format: A face-to-face interview with an examiner.
  • Sections: Introduction and interview, a short speech, a discussion.
  • Objective: Evaluate your ability to communicate in spoken English, including fluency, coherence, and pronunciation.
